Assess the site and viewing conditions
Record the intended location, screen dimensions, viewing distances, direct sunlight, exposure to dust or moisture, operating hours, access for maintenance and nearby power and network services. A site survey can identify structural, electrical, ventilation and access requirements.
Verify the proposed display
- Environmental rating: Confirm the documented IP rating for the intended front and rear exposure and installation orientation.
- Operating conditions: Check the manufacturer’s temperature and humidity ranges, cooling requirements and warranty limitations for the site.
- Visibility: Compare brightness, pixel pitch, resolution and viewing angle using the stated measurement conditions and actual viewing distance.
- Power and structure: Confirm power demand, cabling, mounting method, wind loading and structural review requirements for the proposed installation.
- Content control: Identify the media player, software, network needs, licence, access controls and support terms. Do not assume remote or automated features unless documented for the selected configuration.
- Approvals and maintenance: Confirm which party will check local permits and site approvals, and who will provide access, cleaning, repairs and replacement parts.
